I'm having a hard time setting the correct settings to allow IE 11 to open file:// hyperlinks. When I click on a file:// hyperlinks in IE 11, nothing happens. In Chrome, it opens fine. From what I research so far, this is a security setting.I need to enable file:// hyperlinks in both Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.Thanks for any help!Speak to your administrator. I have a fairly tightly managed IE11 here at work, and file:// hyperlinks work just fine.Bear in mind that you have to get your slashes right, though.

I've checked under localmachine and currentuser but the 'FEATUREBLOCKCROSSPROTOCOLFILENAVIGATION' doesn't exist. I've tried both browsing and search. Are there any other places I can look? You need to add that domain to the trusted sites.I figured it out! I was mistakenly adding my domain to the trusted site rather than the external website. The hyperlink is located on a secure external website page. Mornin' guys,I happen to have a problem with a single Win7 x64 machine. In IE11, no download prompts are appearing and CTRL+J doesn't open anything, if I'm not logged in as an admin or if IE is no started as admin. Weird thing is, that the user is a local admin and still doesn't get any download prompts.Installing another version of Citrix Receiver also didn't help, as was expected.
Download prompts don't appear on any website, I just tried it with Adobe's Flash Player as well.Problem is: User has to work in a customer's network and needs to open a VM via Citrix Receiver and with no download prompt, the Citrix file can't be downloaded to open the VM.So my guess is, that there has to be something weird going on on that machine with my users. I tried it with another user who has no problems on his own machine and he didn't get any prompts on that particular machine as well.So my workaround (starting IE as an admin every time) is not a very clean solution. I even tried resetting the security settings, but that ended up with Windows infinitely loading on the 'Starting Windows' screen after the necessary reboot.headscratch.Any help is much appreciated so thanks in advance!
